About Botox & Dysport
Dr Peter Bray, Dr. Greg Pugen, and nurses inject Botox and Dysport at Bellair Laser Clinic. This hands-on approach allows our medical team to gain insight into your specific concerns and to develop an appropriate course of treatment.
Every smile, every frown, every squint leaves a small impression on your skin. In your twenties, those creases bounce back. By your mid-thirties, collagen production slows, and the lines you used to see only mid-expression start to stay put. That’s when most clients at Bellair Laser Clinic start asking about Botox.
We use Botox and Dysport to treat upper facial rhytids (wrinkles), including forehead lines, crow’s feet, and glabellar lines between the brows. Both are dosed by the unit because every face is different, and the right number depends on the size of the muscle being treated. Many clients pair their Botox with dermal fillers for a fuller result, and we’ll map out the right mix during your complimentary consultation.
How Botox Smooths Wrinkles Out
Botox Cosmetic is the brand name for onabotulinumtoxinA, a purified protein that temporarily blocks the nerve signal telling a muscle to contract. When the targeted muscle relaxes, the skin above it stops creasing with every expression, and the line softens. Health Canada has approved Botox Cosmetic for temporarily improving the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines and crow’s feet.
We use Botox and Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA) to treat upper-face wrinkles, including:
- Horizontal forehead lines
- Frown lines between the brows (the “11s”)
- Crow’s feet at the outer corners of the eyes
- Bunny lines along the nose
- A subtle brow lift
Botox and Dysport are dosed by the unit. Your dose depends on muscle size and strength, not on a one-size-fits-all package, which is why a complimentary consultation comes before every first treatment.
Why Wrinkles Form
Wrinkles develop from a stack of factors working together: collagen breakdown, hormonal shifts, cellular changes, free radical damage, and muscle movement. Even with a strict skincare routine and diligent sun protection, you can’t stop your face from moving. Every time you raise your brows in surprise or pull them together in frustration, the muscle underneath contracts and folds the skin above it. Repeat that motion thousands of times a year, and the fold becomes a line.
These are dynamic wrinkles, and the usual culprits sit in the upper face: the frontalis across the forehead, the corrugator and procerus between the brows, and the orbicularis oculi at the outer eyes. Skin laxity speeds the process. After age 35, collagen breaks down faster than your body can replace it, so the skin loses some of its ability to bounce back after every expression, and the lines that used to fade start to stay put.
What to Expect
A typical wrinkle-relaxing appointment runs about 10 to 15 minutes. We can apply a cold pack or topical numbing cream first, though most clients describe the injections as a quick pinch. Mild bruising, redness, or pinpoint swelling at the injection sites is possible and usually fades within a day or two. You can head back to work right after.
Results build gradually. Most people start noticing softer lines within 3 to 5 days, with the full effect visible around the 2-week mark. The smoothing lasts three to four months on average, though longevity varies with the area treated, your metabolism, and how active the muscles are. Once activity returns, lines reappear, which is why most clients book maintenance treatments two or three times a year.
A Preventive Option Too
Some clients in their late twenties choose lower-dose Botox to slow the formation of new lines before they etch in. Our team tailors the dose, product, and injection pattern to your face, whether you’re softening an existing wrinkle or staying ahead of the next one.
Botox for Sweat Reduction
Excessive sweating, known medically as hyperhidrosis, goes beyond the normal response to heat, exercise, or stress, and it can be frustrating and disruptive to daily life. Botox injections offer an effective way to reduce it. Primary hyperhidrosis comes from overactive sweat glands, while secondary hyperhidrosis stems from an underlying condition like thyroid dysfunction, diabetes, menopause, or Parkinson’s disease. The underarms, palms, soles, face, and scalp are most affected, where overstimulated nerves push the glands to produce far more sweat than the body needs to cool itself.
Botox is injected into the skin to temporarily disable sweat glands. Botox blocks the release of a chemical that activates the glands. By preventing stimulation, Botox dramatically reduces sweating where injected. Treatment sessions take about 10-15 minutes. Patients report significantly less sweating in 1-2 weeks. Results last approximately 3-6 months, then further injections maintain the effects.
- Non-invasive with no surgery or downtime
- Highly effective at reducing excess sweating, especially underarms, hands and feet
- Long-lasting results, though not permanent
- Repeated treatments lead to cumulative improvement
- Covered by some insurance plans for axillary hyperhidrosis
- Botox has a long record of safe medical use
- Convenient, quick office appointments
- Improves quality of life and self-confidence
For excessive hand and foot sweating, Botox is precisely injected into the palms and soles. The feet have the highest concentration of sweat glands. Botox on palms and soles can dramatically reduce sweating.
Facial sweating can be effectively reduced with Botox injections along the hairline, forehead, around the ears, and other affected areas. This minimizes scalp, facial and neck sweating. Botox offers significant relief for those with facial hyperhidrosis.

Botox & Dysport FAQs
Questions we hear most often.
What Is Botox?
BOTOX COSMETIC® (onabotulinumtoxin A for injection) is a sterile, form of purified botulinum neurotoxin type A complex. It is used for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines and/ or moderate to severe lateral canthal lines (crow’s feet).
How Long Is A Botox Treatment And How Long Does It Last?
Botox is a quick treatment with immediate results. Treatments usually take 10-15 minutes and the results last 3 to 4 months. Please note that will take anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks for the product to completely penetrate the muscle and see the results.
What Does Botox Feel Like And What Should I Expect Post Treatment?
No anesthesia is required, however we may numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream prior to injecting. Discomfort is usually minimal and brief. Some bruising may occur at the site of injection.
What Is The Right Age To Start Botox?
Some clients like to start as young as 25 for preventative measures however most clients are in their 30’s and older. Our collagen starts to break down after the age of 35. Most people notice that their lines at this age start to become more defined and may appear even when they are not showing expression. Botox provides temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines and/ or moderate to sever lateral canthal lines (crow’s Feet).
